About
I’m Chessie Rebecca Snider
I have been working with families since I was fourteen years old.
I grew up in a large family with five siblings and lots of foster siblings. It was a multiracial, transcontinental, adoptive household. I have viewed life through a systemic lens since before I knew that terminology.
I’ve been helping children for nearly two decades.
I have worked in pediatric research at Seattle Children's Hospital for 8 years, early childhood education for 20 years, the local crisis line for 5 years, in partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and residential treatment for 2 years. I volunteer in my community with various social justice-oriented organizations.
I believe therapy is collaborative work.
As an adult, you might have big meltdowns, feel shut off from the world, or oscillate between the two. Kids face this, too.
Let's talk and find something that works for all you have to give to the world and your self.
You might enjoy drawing, listening to music, playing games, or going for walks. Let's do those, get to know your nervous system, and continue to build the life you're looking for.
As an adoptee, you often wonder if you are in the wrong. You second guess your conversations with coworkers, new acquaintances, and even friends. You're wanting to build self confidence and self esteem.
You may notice unexpected emotional reactions to situations that typically wouldn't elicit deep visceral responses from colleagues, adoptive family, or friends. You want to explore these with someone who has similar lived experiences.
You hope for stronger connections and exploring your past.

My Identities & Anti-oppression Practices
I identify as a:
White
Pansexual
Able-bodied
Neurodivergent
Cisgender nonbinary femme
Queer
Childless person
Age can be important for folks seeking therapy, so, I’m in my late 30’s
My anti-racism & anti-oppression journey started in 2012 when I started working with refugees and was told that an antiracist White caucusing group would be a good place for me. I went and have been in community with BIPOC antiracists & antiracist White people for some time now.
I operate from a parents-as-a-first-teacher standpoint
I’m sex-positive
I enjoy working with people who are queer/2SLGBTQIAAP+
I’m CNM affirming
I use trauma-informed practices
My business carries my name, not merely for simplicity, but as a
tribute to the interwoven history & strength passed down through generations.
I am Chessie Rebecca Snider, named by my grandmother after her own grandmother, who nurtured & guided her just as my grandmother did for me.
My name embodies both the legacy of resilience + the commitment to honoring culture, all the while shedding patterns that no longer serve us.
Practice & Values
I work with:
children
tweens & teens
mid-career adults & retirees
parents
I love working with people who share the values of building a liberated world where mental health is the standard, not the exception.

Are you in a transition? Having conflicting feelings?
You’re hoping for a change.
You want to be networking or making friends, building confidence in work or school, and may have anxiety in learning.
As an adult, you struggle to create self-focused time to create boundaries around your personal and professional development.
You may recognize multiple areas of wanting to grow, the hats we wear, that are leading to an identity crisis that involves family, friends, culture, intergenerational changes, supporting a loved one in substance use recovery, recognition of a new neurotype like ADHD, autism, a new medical condition, and/or a shift in your evolution.

Education
2023 | MEd, Clinical Mental Health Counseling | Seattle University
2009 | BA, Sociology | University of Washington
I was trained through practicums and internships both in group settings and at community clinics in the greater Seattle area. I continue to learn and expand my understanding and practice by attending frequent anti-racism workshops, IFS seminars, & continuing education classes. I have three years’ training in DBT, CBT, and Trauma-Focused CBT. I’m presently learning EMDR.
