There’s nothing wrong with you.
Our problems can distance us from our heart’s center. Sometimes we forget (or we never learned) how to attend to our innermost self. We can get the sense there’s something wrong with us.
Rediscover your innate worth and find joy & belonging again.

Paying for Therapy
-
I am not paneled with any insurance companies at this time.
If you have insurance, see if it covers “out of network” (OON) behavioral health services. All plans are different. To check, call the number on the back of your insurance card.
Medicaid (Apple Health) never reimburses for out-of-network providers.
-
Out of network (OON) refers to healthcare providers or facilities that do not have a contractual agreement with a particular health insurance plan.
When you receive services from an out-of-network provider, your insurance may cover a portion of the costs, but typically at a lower reimbursement rate than in-network providers.
To use out of network benefits, you must pay for therapy out of pocket first, then seek reimbursement. This can be time consuming, generally taking 1-2 months to be reimbursed.
There are third-party services, such as Reimbursify, which help for a small fee. They negotiate with the insurance company on your behalf, which may get you reimbursed sooner.
-
We provide Superbills.
Superbills are monthly receipts detailing what therapy sessions you’ve already paid for.
These can be submitted to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. To ask about the process for “batch claim submission”, call your insurance provider.
-
Because Chessie Rebecca Sinder is an LMHCA or “Associate” Mental Health Counselor, you may want to see if their services can be reimbursed. Sometimes associates services do not qualify for OON reimbursement.
To check your plan, call your insurance company using the phone number on the back of your card.
-
I have a checklist and scripted tool for conversations with your insurance company that adds clarity to out of network benefits. Email us and I will send it to you whether you choose to work with me or another provider.
-
You can pay with your health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA).
Place this card on file as your preferred payment method.
These cards are not to be used for missed appointment/no-show fees.
-
Employee assistance programs (EAP), like Lyra and Wellspring, make it possible for employees to receive short term behavioral health services. Ask your plan administrator if you have these benefits and for their contact information. If you do have these benefits and want to see if I am eligible, please email me so we can talk about it!
-
The No Surprises Act requires health care providers to provide clients with a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges for items and services to uninsured and self-pay patients. The GFE is only an estimate and actual charges may differ.
If you’d like a Good Faith Estimate once you’re an established client, email us and we will gladly furnish you with one. If you want a general estimate, multiply the number of weeks per year you intend to pay for therapy times the hourly rate of sessions.
Modalities We Use
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured form of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help individuals manage their emotions, improve interpersonal effectiveness, and develop coping strategies. DBT emphasizes the concepts of validation and acceptance while encouraging change, making it particularly effective for individuals who experience intense emotions or who have difficulty in relationships.
SandTray
Sand tray therapy is a therapeutic technique that utilizes a sandbox and miniatures to help individuals express thoughts and feelings non-verbally. It fosters self-discovery and emotional healing by allowing clients to create scenes that reflect their inner world using the right, nonbverbal brain.
TF-CBT
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a specialized form of therapy designed to help individuals process and recover from traumatic experiences. It combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with trauma-sensitive interventions, making it particularly effective for those dealing with the lasting effects of trauma. TF-CBT typically involves a combination of individual therapy for the client and caregiver sessions, which together facilitate a supportive healing environment.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy technique designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. Its bilateral stimulation method uses guided eye movements, sound, or haptics to help individuals desensitize, process, & integrate negative experiences, memories, and phobias. This can lead to reduced suffering & improved mental wellbeing.
Parent Coaching
We have heartfelt conversations with parents about how to be their best and meet their kids where they’re at. Whether it’s talking about pronouns or learning about trauma responses, we use a blend of psycho-education, tips & tricks, and deep listening and validation. Parenting is the toughest job in the world. We get it.
Our Theoretical Orientations
I draw from the toolboxes of Somatic approaches of Internal Family Systems, Synergetic Child-Centered and Filial Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Multimodal Therapy, Neurodivergent Affirming Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), post-crisis Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy.
It all depends on your needs.
Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic model that views the mind as made up of distinct "parts" or subpersonalities, each with its own perspectives, memories, and roles. IFS works by helping individuals identify and understand these parts, facilitating internal communication and healing through self-leadership and integration. The outcomes often include increased self-awareness, improved emotional regulation, and healthier relationships as clients learn to embrace and harmonize their internal system.
Systems Theory
Systems theory in counseling emphasizes the interconnections between individuals and their environments, considering how relationships and social contexts influence behavior. It works by identifying patterns and dynamics within these systems, allowing counselors to address issues holistically rather than focusing solely on the individual. As a result, clients often experience improved communication, strengthened relationships, and a deeper understanding of their role within their systems.
Multicultural Counseling
Multicultural counseling orientation in therapy refers to an approach that recognizes and incorporates the diverse cultural backgrounds, identities, and experiences of clients to provide effective mental health support. This orientation aims to understand and address the unique challenges faced by individuals within their cultural context, promoting a more inclusive and empathetic therapeutic relationship.

Group Therapy Offerings
Group therapy supports personal growth by fostering connections that individual reflection lacks. This creates a sense of community, helping members feel less alone. Engaging in group therapy allows individuals to practice social skills, explore relationships, and receive peer feedback. Unlike solitary reflection, group therapy puts what you learn in individual therapy to the test, for a more complete relational-healing experience.
